Ventures / Perspective

Business
perspective.

I’m interested in businesses built around useful products and services. My starting point is the problem, the people it affects and the work needed to solve it.

An engineering approach

How I evaluate an idea.

01 / The need

Who is it for?

Understand the people, the problem and the alternatives they already have.

02 / The value

What makes it useful?

Define what the idea improves and why someone would choose it.

03 / The work

What will it take?

Think through the resources, constraints and decisions involved in building it.

A practical perspective

An idea needs
evidence.

LUMOS connects a technical question to a practical need: local urban lighting. I led the student team exploring its generation, storage and illumination stages.

Energy capture, system losses and reliability still need to be evaluated. Those questions matter when considering how a concept could become something people use.
